The training which was under the auspices of the Builsa South District Business Advisory Centre (BAC) was supported by the Japanese Social Development Fund (JSDF), and focused mainly on value addition to some raw materials.

Beneficiaries were trained in soap making, shea butter extraction, par-boiling/processing of rice, malt processing, dawadawa processing and groundnut processing into products such as oil, among others.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Daniel Kwame Gariba addressing the beneficiaries noted that the training is in line with measures to empower the locals to ensure best practices, and add value to their business in order to expand and derive the best from their toils.

According to him, poverty reduction is a core focus of the current administration, and was particularly delighted that women are integral part of the society, and empowering them economically means improvement in the livelihood of the entire family.

The DCE also disclosed that, beneficiaries would be assisted with capital to be able to put into practice the skills they acquired and advised that such financial assistance should strictly be channeled into their business and not for personal up-keeps.

Meanwhile, Mr Yaw Agyapong in charge of data management from the regional office of JSDF also added his voice to the need for the women to take the training seriously and ensure judicious use of the funds that would be given them to expand their local businesses because by so doing it offers them long term financial independence.
