Speaking at an assembly meeting, the Municipal Chief Executive, Andrews Teddy Ofori said the Assembly in pursuant to the One district one factory policy has submitted three areas of interest including cassava processing, rice processing and recycling of waste into energy (Joint venture with sister district), but indicated that the cassava processing proposal has gained upper hand.

He indicated that the likely area for sitting the factory would be Fodome, where the chiefs and people have pledged to release some sizeable amount of land towards the project. “This is based on the fact that there is also a generous of land for cultivation of cassava to feed the factory”, he stated.

“My office is in touch with the chiefs and people for the demarcation “cutting out” and pegging of the requisite land, after which surveyors would initiate the documentation process.

He noted that cassava farmers stand a chance to benefit if the factory comes on stream since they would have to supply their produce to the factory.

He thus assured that government’s pledge to facilitate the construction of industries in every metropolitan, Municipal, and district Assembly is on course.

In a related development, Mr. Ofori stated that the Rice Sector Support Project (Valley Rice Project) is progressing and about 527 farmers are into the programme, adding, it would be extended to other farmers across the municipality.

Thus, five valleys have been earmarked for development including;
1. Dogbadzi                        21.7 acres                           Wli-Dzagbega
2. Nsamanfun                   16.3 acres                            Fodome Helu
