He said, the district was poised to fight the menace to ensure that women who die from pregnancy or childbirth-related complications in the area become a thing of the past.

The DCE made this known during the assembly’s second ordinary meeting at Bongo last week.

Addressing some members of the assembly as well as some key stakeholders in the area, the DCE revealed that there was however, an increase in Outpatient Department (OPD) services from the previous 39,843 in 2017 to 49,043 in 2018.

He further made known that, the assembly has awarded contract for the construction of a morgue at the Bongo district hospital, while maternity ward is completed and will soon be furnished.

He continued by saying that a new Community Health-base Planning Service (CHPS) compound with ancillary facilities had been completed in Sanabisi with funds from the Assembly’s common fund.

Meanwhile, expansion work is currently ongoing at the Namoo health centre with funding through the district development fund.
