Some assembly members bent on removing the MCE have cited, what they say is her disrespect to the chiefs, as one of their reasons but the Council has discounted the claim.

It said its investigations show that this has no basis in fact - a complete falsehood.

A statement signed by the acting registrar, Alpo Gobiel, warned everybody to stop repeating the wicked lie.

They should stop dragging the name of the Paramount Chief into anything that could hurt his image.

It said the allegation was meant to create confusion and stymied the development of the municipality.

“As a registrar of the traditional council, I want to state emphatically that the Paramount Chief and his elders have no problem with or whatsoever against the MCE.”

They were rather in full support of the development agenda she was implementing to better the lives of the people.

It underlined the unswerving determination of the council to work hand in hand with the MCE to fight poverty and create job opportunities for the youth.

The chiefs rallied the assembly members, the youth and opinion leaders to unite behind the MCE to bring about the needed development.
They should overcome any parochial interest or self-serving agenda.

Eighteen (18) members in the municipal assembly, last month, signed a petition calling for the impeachment of the MCE, citing what they claimed to be breaches of the procurement law, disrespect for chiefs and wasteful spending.

She has flatly denied the accusations and labelling these as an attempt to thwart the efforts she was making to help make things better for the people in the municipality.
