The items included 600 dual desks and four computers and its accessories to the four circuits in the district.

Presenting the items at a short ceremony held at the forecourt of the Assembly, the District Chief Executive, Maurice Jonas Woode said upon several visits to the many schools in the district, he realised that most of the schools were in deplorable states and lacked teaching and learning materials for teachers and pupils respectively.

He said the dual desks were funded from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and were supposed to be 1000 but since 600 were available they could not waste much time in waiting for the other 400 to be finished whiles the pupils were seriously in need of them.

Hon. Woode said he expects that the 600 dual desks will be shared among the four circuits in the district. He assured that the remaining 400 will soon be completed and also distributed to the schools.

He also revealed that the Assembly will also ensure that at every quarter of the year, an additional 1000 dual desks will also be made and distributed to the schools to cover the deficit till all the pupils in the schools get adequate desks to sit on.

He added that the computers were also donated to the Assembly by Mad. Yaa Amponsah and husband, both natives of Akrofuom in the United States of America and thanked them very much for it.

He also used the opportunity to appeal to natives of Akrofuom in and outside the district who are well to do and other stakeholders to give any support they can to the Assembly since there is vast work to be done in the district.

For his part the District Director of Education for Adansi South District who has oversight responsibility for Akrofuom District, Dr Daniel Annan Edufful was thankful to the Assembly for the items presented to them and assured that the authorities in the school will take good care of the items and used judiciously for the purpose they were brought.

He noted that the challenges in the school are enormous but the teachers in the district are doing their best to ensure that the pupils are given the best of tuition.

Dr Annan Edufful revealed that there are four circuits in the district namely Mensonso, Akrofuom, Adamso and Grumesa with pupil population of 11,571.
