The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Madam Victoria Ayamba said the two schools and 11 others in the district had their roofs ripped up during last year rainstorms, a situation which has forced school authorities to close down the school due to the deplorable nature of the structures.

She said the renovation has taken out the predicament pupils and teachers of Timonde primary school as well as Kukuruzua primary and Junior High Schools in the District experienced studying under scorching sunrays.

Madam Ayamba said, the assembly was able to rehabilitate schools that were not hard hit by the storms and awarded an entire renovation of the Timonde and Kukuruzua primary and JHS, and said the renovation of the schools fulfilled government's policy on free education at the basic level.

She further added that the assembly had mobilized resources from the Common Fund to procure furniture for some schools, while plans to construct classrooms to improve on educational delivery in the district were underway.

She said, the schools which were not connected to the national grid had been hooked up to improve teaching of Information Communication Technology (ICT) expressing optimism that efforts by the assembly will reflect in pupils’ performance in the district.
