According to them, they have been sidelined by the government despite claims by past and present governments to better the lives of artisans, but the reality is different hence planning to hit government with a massive demonstration for neglecting the craftsmen.

This was captured in a release issued and copied Ghanadistricts.com on behalf of the Association by its President, Mr. Gideon Yaw Bidor, revealing that most of the artisan are unable to afford three square meals after a back breaking labour.

He stressed that the Association has not seen a single person from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for over a decade to even engage them to find out about their challenges even though government could use their expertise at the various Technical Universities instead of putting much emphasis on the theory aspect.

Mr. Bidor later observed in an interview that the Artisans are well endowed with the skills needed to produce quality products but lack the financial support.

"We want government to recognize us as partners in the nation’s development that must be resourced and also given the platform to play its role towards achieving the government's Ghana beyond aid agenda. We hereby urge government to setup the craftsmen fund which will only cater for the well-being and development of craftswork in the country while creating employment to the youth".

He seized the opportunity to express a heartfelt appreciation to the Master Card Foundation with Global fund for sponsoring the Association to train about 23,700 youth in craftsmanship over the years whiles calling on other benevolent organizations to come to their aid.
