Collins Ntim visits Atwima Mponua
The Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development and the Member of Parliament for Offinso North Constituency, Mr Collins Ntim has paid a working visit to the Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region.

The minister, at his visit, met staff, Traditional Authorities, Assembly Members, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to ascertain the progress of work done to complement policies of central government.

Being the second time in three years, Mr Ntim highlighted on the conscious effort of government to make Ghana economic independent through novel policies like Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), Planting for Export and Rural Development and the Free Senior High School.

He tasked the gathering to take education seriously and push for their kids to learn to higher degrees in life.

In addition, the Minister noted that, MMDCEs and their coordinating directors should channel most of their district assembly common fund to Local Economic Development (LED) which he noted is the bedrock of wealth for all.

“We have Health and Education Ministries, their budget must build the schools and the hospitals and the DACF must bring wealth creation in the communities through LED. We are to complement their work but not take the burden of their mother ministries” he stated.



In addition, Mr Ntim revealed that, government has zoned some districts to designated special crops through the diversification agenda, adding that 98 districts is committed to cashew production, 30 others are marked for Mangoes, 5 for sheanuts, 40 for coconuts, 30 for palm nut and 15 for rubber plantation.

This he said is a conscious effort to help create wealth at the grassroots level to impact the GDP of the country.

The minister laced his presentation with the promise of completing the New Assembly Hall.

He commended Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah for championing an enviable course in his political life and paying the fees of 46 brilliant but needy students in the area.



On his part, the District Chief Executive of the area, Mr Isaac Kofi Marfo thanked the Deputy Minister for the completion and furnishing of the Assembly block.

He also lauded the minister for ensuring the completion of the Nursing Training School and the ongoing state of the art Hospital in Nyinahin which is part of the Agenda 111.
