“Dumping of refuse and open defecation not dignifying”- Minister
Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has lamented over the practice of dumping refuse in gutters and open deification, despite the crusade to end such practice.

In a media interaction, she noted that as Ghanaians we should frown on areas that do not have toilet facilities.

“Government is bearing all cost on providing toilets and ensuring we have good sanitation, we should be concerned we form part of the government, we should all be active citizens as said by the President”.

According to the sector Minister, Ghanaians should all think aloud and eliminate these bad practice and behavior of open deification and dumping of waste, it is not dignifying and good for “our children”.

But was quick to point out that, people cannot be punished, without the provision of toilet in their homes, the best solution is the provision of toilet by the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) Sanitation and Water project.

She further called on Ghanaians to rent rooms that have toilet facilities in them, because they will eat.

“For the young once, if your fiancé does not have toilet in the home do not go in, when you get pregnant, you have to get up in the middle of the night and cross the road to go and pupu”.
