N JUABEN N: 30 PWDs empowered by the Assembly
The Social Development Department of the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly have supported People living with Disability with some items and cash to raise their standard of living.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, Madam Comfort Asante stated that, the Assembly will continue to support the needs of (PWDs).

“This is not going to be the first and last but we should expect more from the Assembly to enable them acquire their vital business needs” this she said at the forecourt of the Assembly grounds where the durbar was held.

The MCE explained that, “the choice of the beneficiaries of the items was a result of the desire by government, to consciously improve the living conditions of persons with disability”.



A total of thirty (30) beneficiaries were cleared by the Disability Management Fund Committee (DMF) to receive support. The rest of them will receive theirs as and when the funds are released by the District Assembly Common Fund Secretariat.

The head of the Social Development, Madam Sally Mahama disclosed that items presented to PWDs include 5 deep freezers, 2 sewing machines, 1 drilling machine, 35 boxes of agro chemical products, 4 sets of items to operate glossaries shop, 25 bags of charcoal and 4 beneficiaries of school fees. She said, the assembly will be extending similar facilities to other PWDs in the Municipality every quarterly. The programme being implemented was aimed at removing all people with disabilities begging for arms from the street.



She advised the beneficiaries to take advantage of this opportunity and work hard to better their lives, and promise the PWDs of the Assembly’s unflinching support to their cause. She however admonished them to cultivate the culture of maintenance, so that the lifespan of the items they have received can be prolonged.

The Assembly Member for Adumasa who is also the chairman of the function Hon. Stephen Boakye-Yiadom, urged all the beneficiaries to work hard to encourage the committee of the Assembly responsible for the program to increase the capital for them.

Mr Frimpong Ahenkra, a beneficiary commended government and the Assembly for the support and promised to nurture the capital given to them to bare fruits.
