Nana Oboadie Opambour Boateng Bonsu II, President of the Association in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com stated that "the failure of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and it's Agencies to recognize the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) the constitutionally mandated body to spearhead the affairs of farmers and fishermen in the country during the launching of the event in Accra, means farmers are not now being treated as an outcast in the Agric sector".

The lunching of the 35th edition of the Farmers Day celebration which is an annual ritual to recognize and honour farmers across the country which will be observed on the theme "Enhancing Small Scale Agriculture Towards Agribusiness Development" was done by the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Attah in Accra without any representative of farmers or fishermen from the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fisherman who are constitutionally mandated to mediate between farmers and the government.

The President hinted that the Ministry has intentionally sidelined the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fisherman, adding that they are not involved in any policy implementation ever since the Akufo Addo led NPP government took over affairs of this country.

The association sees it as an affront on their contribution to the growth of the Ghanaian economy.

Nana Oboadie Osei Bonsu II alleges that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture is determined to sidelined the Ghana National Association of farmers and fishermen as he recounts that; the executives of the GNAFF once visited the minister Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie after his appointment by the president to congratulate and officially introduce the association, but the Minister told them that the government is not ready and will not be ready to work with any association but will rather work with anybody they see on the street with cutlass.

Truly the government has resulted to the formation of farmer base organizations and awarding winners club for their programs instead of the GNAFF so we are also advising ourselves" Nana Bonsu II oboadie stated.
