PERD Programme: Offinso North to distribute one million cashew seedlings
As part of government’s efforts to improve on the welfare and the standard of living of its people through the implementation of government Planting for Export and Rural Development ( PERD) policy, the Offinso North District Assembly in the Ashanti Region have strategically planned to provide over one million cashew seedlings for free to farmers in the District.

This is an increase of the 2018 where the assembly distributed about 600,000 cashew seedlings to farmers aiming at making the Planting for Export and Rural Development policy a reality.

This was disclosed to the public by the District Chief Executive of the area, David Kwasi Asare Boakye at Nkenkansu during a sod cutting ceremony to tire all streets in Nkenkansu township through the support from the Central Government and Hon Collins Ntim who is the Member of Parliament for the area as well as the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (MoLG&RD).

"The government through the District Assembly with the support of our Member of Parliament who is also the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development (LG&RD) hon. Collins Ntim has planned to this year nurse over one million seedlings of cashew which will be distributed to farmers free of charge, which plans are far advance" he stated.

The Chief Executive maintained that Akuffo Addo's industrialization drive of 1D1F requires appropriate raw materials base for the industries saying, "We has so far successfully procured about ten bags of cashew seedlings to be distributed to about 30 communities for nursery exercise, I wish to urge our hard working farmers to take cashew farming serious as some Organization are poised to put money to support cashew production in the Districts" he noted.

He expressed his greatest appreciation to the MP for his unflinching support given to the District by motivating and resourcing the farmers to engage themselves in the cashew business which will help Ghana to become the hub and a leading producer of cashew production in Africa in some 10 years to come with Offinso north leading in Ghana.

The DCE who was cheered as Adwumawura by the gathering disclosed that a new waterfalls has been discovered at Asubima forest which forms part of Ghana plantations in the Offinso North District at Akumadan adding that government through the Assembly is on the drawing board planning to make good use of the facility.

David Kwasi Asare Boakye cease the opportunity to call on the citizenry to rally their support to the government, the MP and the District Assembly as they are positioned to develop the District and the country at large.
