ATWIMA K: NCCE educates public on good governance, corruption
District Director of the National Commission for Civil Education in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, Rev. Dr. Micheal Ampong, has called on the public to desist from corrupt practices to help promote development in the country.

Rev. Ampong was speaking at a community durbar at Twedie organized by the NCCE to promote good governance in Ghana by reducing corruption and improve accountability and compliance with the rule of law in the country.

Mr C.S Dery in charge of the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, CHRAJ at Bosomtwe also cautioned the public to shun away from abusing their positions of trust as such practices also amount to corruption.

He urged them to cooperate with the law-enforcement agencies to uproot corruption from our society.



He advised the citizen to report corrupt issues to the police without fear of intimidation, adding that information provided should have strong evidence to support report or allegations for swift action.

The District Police Commander, Inspector Simon Agyei, on his part assured the public of the readiness of the police to protect them against all forms of injustice but appealed for cooperation from the public to achieve maximum result.



Nana Hemaah Akua Afriyie Owoabrempong, Queen Mother of Boaso Stooland, Ashanti advised the citizens to maintain healthy environment by undertaking regular clean-up exercise in their various environment. She expressed worried over operations recent sanitation officers, and appeal for reversal to operations of “Sama Sama”.

She advised parents to take responsibility in the upbringing of their wards since they are their future. She admonished that the effect of bad upbringing are the recent increase in social vices in our communities.



She advised the general public to take advantage of the free senior high school education, adding that parents should not deny their wards education having been handed such a golden opportunity.

Mrs Lois Ohene Ayisi, who represented the District Chief Executive, Nana Okyere Tiwah Antwi, touched on negative effects of harmful drugs like tramodol, marijuana (Wee) and alcoholic drinks, adding that children are the future leaders of this country, hence they should desist from such drugs.
