GAMA building capacity of MMDCEs on waste management - Director

Chief Executives of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies capacity are being built to deal with waste management in the various Assemblies.

According to the coordinator of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA), Sanitation and Water project, Ing George Aseidu, almost all chief executives are working to ensure they have a clean communities.

“Drains are clear of refuse, debris and support efforts to get Accra clean, and again training to be given to staffs of the Assemblies, as the project will provide logistics”.

Mr. George Aseidu further added that an ICT support is being giving to the various MMDAs in data collection to be able to cover the status of sanitation nationwide.

He adds that Sanitation and Water Resources Ministry is supporting the MMDAs to establish waste department in the Municipal Assemblies which was not the case in the past.

“We have gone far with getting resources through additional funding to be able to resource the Assemblies to be on their feet to deal with sanitation issues”, he stated.
