ASUTIFI N: NCCE holds durbar on Public Accountability and Environmental Governance
The Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has tasked citizens of Asutifi North District to collaborate with anti-graft institutions in ensuring public office holders account properly to citizens as required by good environmental governance practice to cut down on corrupt dealings in the public sector.

The Commission is of the view that adequate accountability would be ensured when citizens hold accountable by leaders for guarantees sustainability of institutions, communities, groups and organizations for better delivery of public goods and services.

The call was made by Mr Oduro, district CHRAJ director, during a community durbar organised by National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Kenyasi NO. 1 palace where about 200 people were schooled on Ghana’s whistleblower Act, 2006 (Act 720).

"The law protects every citizen. Report to appropriate authorities when you witness issues of corruption because it is your responsibility", he added.

The public were encouraged to make disclosures on corruption to Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Economic and Organised Crime Office, Auditor-General, Attorney General, Members of Parliament, police officers, Chief, religious leaders, among others.

Omanhene of Kenyasi NO. 1 traditional council, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri who chaired the durbar commended NCCE Director Rev. Robert Collins Annam for educating the people of Kenyasi, on ways to fight corruption.

He also encouraged participants to collaborate with anti-graft institutions in tackling corruption effectively.

The participants included chiefs, church leaders, assembly members, civil society groups, security agencies, public officials and school children.

The event also had talks led by head district Environmental officer and head of DOVSU on ways of addressing environmental and security issues.
