Mr. Gordon Dormayili made the appeal during an interface meeting between state and non-state actors at Kajaji, the District capital of the Sene East District Assembly.

The interface meeting was a follow-up to an earlier sensitization forum in the District on the project dubbed “I Am Aware” being implemented by Resource Link Foundation-Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organization in partnership with Centre for Democratic Development –Ghana (CDD-GHANA) with funding from the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF).

The data from the project is a tool to strengthen social accountability between state and non-state actors. The data concentrates in critical areas of development such us Health, Education, Sanitation,Security,Governance and Water.

Mr. Gordon Dormayili commended Centre for Democratic Development-Ghana (CDD-GHANA) and Resource Link Foundation-Ghana for the project. He urged civil society organizations to use the District League Table data as an advocacy tool for equitable resource allocation since the situation where Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies are allocated even more resources to the detriment of deprived Districts was not good for the forward much of the development process.

On his part, the Country Director of Resource Link Foundation-Ghana, Mr. Christopher Dapaah charged citizens to participate in the decentralization process to ensure efficient allocation and use of resources.

He urged participants to use the District League Table data to engage in dialogue with duty bearers to ensure improvement in service delivery. Mr. Christopher Dapaah also appealed to citizens to use the data and rankings of their Districts to hold state officials accountable.

The participants who were drawn from People with Disabilities, Unit Committee and Assembly Members, market women, youth groups, religious bodies, trades associations and key departments in the District were taken through the District League Table data, its objectives, sources of data, the role of citizens in improving service delivery among others.

Similar meeting has been held in Wamfie in the Dormaa East District while another one will be held in Kodie in the Afigya Kwabre District of Ashanti.
