WENCHI: MCE cuts sod for projects under the $1million per constituency policy
The Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi Honorable Dr. Prince Kwakye Afriyie has in a short ceremony on Thursday 5th April cut sod for construction works to commence on 3 toilet projects under the 1 million dollar per constituency policy by government.

The ceremony which took place at Yoyoano brought together nananom, technocrats of the assembly as well as leadershership of the governing New Patriotic Party in Wenchi. The projects are earmarked for Yoyoano, Nkonsia and Awisa.

He disclosed that the 10 seater toilets were solar energy powered and could easily be used by the disable people adding that this was the first in its kind to be constructed in the whole of the municipality.



Hon. Kwakye Afriyie explained some additional benefits that this social infrastructure project could bring as compost (organic manure), bio gas among others.

He charged the contracting company (MEGA ANAGAZO) to complete the project on schedule in other to serve the people.

He said this formed part of many other projects that are to take place in the municipality under the 1 million dollar per constituency flagship program by central government.

The MCE further asked the contractor to employ the labor force locally to serve as job creation and also boost local economy.



As part of the projects earmarked for the 1 million dollars per constituency in Wenchi, the M C E noted that plans were far advance to construct bore holes to serve the Subinso Health Centre, Nchiraa Senior High School and Nwoase communities respectively.

The Unit Committee Secretary of Yoyoano thanked the government and Member of Parliament for their timely intervention.

He recalled that since the community was established there had never been any public toilet and added that this would serve a great deal for them as a community.
