The Planting for Rural Development is one of the agricultural flagship programmes rolled out by the Akufo Addo-led administration to support farmers, and the youth especially, by motivating them to go into farming rather than migrating to urban centres in quest of jobs which are non-existent.

Mr. Seth Birikorang Ofosu, District Chief Executive of the area said, the supply of various seedlings to farmers would serve as a value chain to produce raw materials to feed factories under the One District One Factory (1D1F) Programme to help mitigate unemployment situation in the district and the country as a whole.

In an interview with Ghanadistricts TV, Mr. Birikorang charged farmers in the area to grab the opportunity by taking advantage of the numerous agriculture interventions to help better their lives.

He added that the Assembly would soon raise additional seedlings for subsequent distribution to farmers as part of efforts to help improve the programme.

According to him, farmers had embraced the government’s flagship programmes rolled out to better their living conditions.
