EJISU: 225 persons with disability get support from assembly

The Social Welfare Department under the Ejisu Municipal assembly has disbursed a total of GHC114, 080.00 to 225 persons with disability drawn from the erstwhile Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

The disbursement ceremony took place on 16th May 2018 at the forecourt of the municipal assembly.

The physically challenged persons were of three categories namely, the blind, deaf and those with other forms of physical disability. Similarly the assistance received was also in three folds. That is education, medical and trading for those who needed to set up businesses.

A number of sewing machines were given to Five (5) persons to setup their sowing business: the seven mattresses also for the group into hiring of mattresses and a tricycle for the death, who are into piggery.

The MCE, Mad. Beatrice Serwaa Derkyi in her short address, encouraged them that disability is not inability and so should up, for God knows why he made them so. She also admonished them to put whatever resources they have received into good use.

The presiding member, Hon. Micheal Owusu, on his point said the president of the republic, Nana Akuffo Addo decided to increase their share the common fund because he cares for them, knowing that they have contributed during the 2016 elections for his victory. He also pledged that he would always see to it that the assembly makes disability issues its priority.
