According to him, through the buffer stock project of which the construction of the warehouses form part, there is hope that the hunger that is associated with the long period of drought in the region would be minimized.

Mr. Azonko in an interview told ghanadistircts.com that government’s flagship programme of planting for food and jobs is working as most farmers are being provided with subsidized fertilizer to increase yield, while efforts are ongoing in rolling out the livestock rearing programme which was launched in Wa, among others.

“I know all these measures are going on to help contribute to the food basket of this country, various constituencies are getting their warehouses”, he said.

As to why lawmakers in the region have had reason to complain on visibility of the warehouses, he responded that, they have a point if they claim not to have seen completed projects.

“But the warehouses promised at the various areas are almost eighty-five (85) percent done, most have been roofed now, and finishing touches are being put to them people would begin seeing the full finished structures, those comments may no longer be relevant”, he said.
