ASUOGYAMAN: DCE, others engage communities
District Chief Executive of Asuogyaman accompanied by some various heads of department has on the 6th of September, 2018 commenced another community engagement activity where three communities were visited namely Nkwakubew, Labolabo and Asikuma all in the Asuogyaman District.

The main purpose for the visit was to enquire on the challenges of the community and address them.

Various heads implementing the Government flagship programmes also inform the communities on the status of implementation in this regard.

The presentation were on; Free senior high school policy by the Education Director,
Planting for food and Jobs & planting for Export and rural Development by Mr. Charles Ankra, representative from the Agriculture department.

The District Social Welfare and Community Development Director, Mrs. Salomey Asamoah Danquah addressed social welfare related issues with Mrs. Doris Aquah, DEHO addressing sanitation and challenges associated with public toilets with the places visited.

In all the presentations the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Moses Noble Joshua enlighten the communities about the structure of the Assembly system, indicating the various departments in the Assembly setting.

He further informed the gathering that the initiative to engage communities was to involve the constituents in the participation of decision making and to better serve them by bringing the development they crave for.

The district Planning Officer, Mrs. Gertrude Mongkumah also addressed some of the plights of the communities indicating that most of their concern had been captured in the DMTDP district medium Term development plan hence the Assembly was in the process of addressing them gradually.

She also bemoaned but encouraged the community members to be forthcoming and involve themselves when such community engagement activities were taken place at their communities.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Kwame Agyekum climaxed each visit by informing the community on government's initiative of one district one factory by mentioning that the district was undertaken three activities under the 1d1f initiative thus 1. Rearing of pigs and construction of a piggrey milling factory 2. Establishment of poultry in the district and milling factory for the production of feed.

3. Removal of tree stamps in the Volta Lake for charcoal production and timber related products.

He also informed the community that he was going to embark on the construction of markets within all major towns in the district hence that had been included in the 2019 Annual Composite Budget.

The open forum session also addressed various challenges raised by the community members.
