The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben Municipal North Assembly Madam Comfort Asante visited some schools in the New Juaben Municipality to welcome newly enrolled pupils as the 2019/2020 academic year begins.

The exercise is also known as “my first day at school” saw the MCE together with the Municipal Education Director Ms. Beverly Dansoa Bartels toured some schools in the municipality to encourage pupils especially the ones in kindergarten and primary. Some of the schools that were visited include; Mpaem M/A Primary, Oyoko Methodist Primary, Asokore Roman Primary, Effiduase Presbyterian Primary, Okomesu Basic School among others.

Madam Comfort Asante called on parents to combine both formal and informal training in educating their wards.

She said the development of the child should not only depend on what he or she gets from the school but also norms and societal values that are taught by the parent’s community at large.

The MCE charged the teachers of the various schools to give their best in the educational development of pupils. She encouraged the teachers not to shirk their responsibilities based on challenges they may be facing but rather consider the welfare of the pupils they are nurturing.

The Municipal Education Director Madam Dansoa Bartels advised teachers to see pupils as their own and ensure that discipline is instilled into them in addition to the academic work.

Madam Bartels stated the new educational curriculum by the Ghana Education Service is more inclusive so she is hopeful it will make teaching and learning more interactive and will actually let pupils understand lessons better.

The newly enrolled pupils were given learning materials such as; pencils, erasers, reading and arithmetic cards, uniforms, Formica boards as well as soft drinks and biscuits to refresh pupils.
