ASUOGYAMAN: DCE assures more jobs through agric programmes
District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asuogyaman in the Eastern Region, Mr. Samuel Kwame Agyekum assured Ghanaians of government’s commitment to create more job opportunities in the agric sector through the implementation of its flagship ‘Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) and Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD)’ programmes.

The DCE gave the assurance when he took a tour to the site where the assembly is nursing some palm nuts seedlings and to ensure that the programme is on track.

Speaking in an interview, the Mr Agyekum noted that the Assembly has so far nursed about 10,000 palm nuts seedlings, adding that the District’s Agric Department intends to have 20,000 palm nuts seedlings nursed and distributed to farmers for free.


He revealed that the Department will soon be nursing Mango seedlings.

He was optimistic that the programme will create jobs, increase revenue for farmers and also serve as an incentive for people especially the youth to enter into farming.


He also assured Department of government’s continuous support for the programme to greatly benefit to the district.
