For his prize, he was presented with a tricycle, table top fridge, a knapsack sprayer, full piece of wax print, wellington boots and a radio set. Seven other farmers were also recognized for their immense contribution to the development of the area's agriculture.
This was at the municipal farmers' day celebration held at Akwadum under the theme 'Planting for food and jobs'.

Deputy Local Government Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben North, Nana Agyei Boateng, encouraged the people to take to backyard farming.
He said everybody should be part of the nation's drive to achieve food security and cut down on food imports.

He used the occasion to counsel unemployed youth to take advantage of the government's 'Planting for food and jobs' programme to transform their economic situation.
Ms. Comfort Asante, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said priority was being focused on agro-processing to add value to farm produce in the municipality.

She underlined the government's determination to ensure that agriculture became more rewarding.
Mr. Ohene asked the youth to venture into farming, telling them that it was a profitable business.
