Sokoban Krofrom JHS Fire: Assembly to rehabilitate school block
Nana Okyere-Tawiah Antwi, District Chief Executive of Atwima Kwanwoma, has assured the District Education Directorate and people of Krofrom of the Assembly’s support to rehabilitate the Sokoban Krofrom Junior High School block as a matter of agency.

Nana Antwi who visited the school to commiserate with the students and teachers as well assess the extent of damage caused by the inferno expressed worried about the outbreak of fire in the country and called on the National Fire Service to embark on intensive education on fire safety. He also advised the public to be vigilant when connecting electricity to their various houses.

The 3-unit classroom block with headmistress office and staff common room was gutted by fire at Sokoban Krofrom JHS on May 16, 2019.



According to eye witness, the fire that started around 3:30 am took the community members 2 hours to bring it down with later interventions from the Ghana National Fire Service. According to the fire service the cause of fire is still under investigation.

Several valuable items and properties including furniture, 4 laptops, textbooks, several dictionaries, teaching and learning materials and 2015 and 2016 batch certificates have been affected.

The DCE used the opportunity to admonish the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates not to be perturbed about the fire outbreak but work hard in the upcoming exams in order to enjoy the Free SHS policy of Nana Addo Danquah Akoffo Addo's government.

He disclosed that the district was second and fourth in 2018 BECE examination Ashanti Region and National respectively.



According to Mr. Victor De-Graft Etson, as an interim measure both Form 1 and 2 are to join a nearby town Ampaabe No1 as there is two vacant classroom available to use whiles the Form 3 who have three weeks to write the 2019 BECE will still have classes in the school.

Other members of the entourage included Mr Andrews Mensah (District Coordinating Director), Mr Victor De-Graft Etson (District Education Director), Mr. Victor Owusu Asamoah (Development Planning Officer), Mr. Prince Karikari (NADMO).
