Mr. James Gunu, District Chief Executive of the Akatsi North District has paid glowing tribute to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), President Dramani Mahama, his predecessor late President Mills, the Speaker of Parliament Doe Adjaho, the Member of Parliament for Akatsi North Peter Nortsu Kotoe who was then the DCE for Akatsi, and traditional authorities in the Akatsi North District for their roles in the creation of the Akatsi North District.

“But for the sacrifice and hard work of the aforementioned personalities and others, the accelerated development we are witnessing would not have been possible” he stated.

According to him, the initial size of the Akatsi District also contributed to slow pace of development. As such the creation of the Akatsi North District and other new districts and other equally important measures taken thereafter by government to ensure grassroot participation in decision making attest to government’s determination to affirm democratic governance in the country.

He therefore assured the people of judicious use of available resources both human and materials for the growth and development of the district and improvement in the living conditions of all and sundry.

Mr. Gunu who was addressing participants at a District Public Account Forum at the district capital said government is not reneging on the reason for creating the district, adding that a lot of measures have been instituted to provide the needed socio-economic amenities that the people need.

He said he will strive hard to achieve the four key promises of building strong and resilient economy, people centered governance, expansion of infrastructure, and transparent and accountable governance made to Ghanaian by President Mahama and the NDC Government.

The DCE appealed to the chiefs and opinion leaders to remain united and offer the necessary assistance to the assembly in its quest to develop the district. He also entreat them to exercise patients with the government to put economy in good shape reminding them of the just ended Economic Forum at Senchi, Akosombo meant to restore economic growth.
