The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama through the Lordina Foundation, has donated an ambulance to the Bole District Hospital, to help improve healthcare delivery especially during emergencies and referrals in the district.

She also donated medical supplies and equipment including office chairs, walking aids, laboratory collectors, theatre beds, hospital beds, bicycles and an LCD TV monitor to the Bole District Hospital and West Gonja Hospital at Damongo.
   
Mrs Mahama made the presentation when she visited the two districts at the weekend.
    
She said: “Quality healthcare is a very important tool for national development, for as is rightly said, a healthy people, make a healthy nation.”

She called on stakeholders to work together to promote quality healthcare.
   
Mrs Mahama expressed gratitude to Huawei Technologies, and MedShare USA, and other sponsors, who partnered with Lordina Foundation for the donation.

The First Lady paid courtesy calls on the Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa, Overlord of the Gonjaland, and the Bolewura, Chief of Bole.
   
Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, Northern Regional Minister said the donation by Mrs Mahama demonstrated her commitment towards improving maternal healthcare in the country.
   
Dr Jacob Mahama, Deputy Regional Director of Health Services in-charge of Public Health, received the items on behalf of the two districts.
   
The Lordina Foundation is a development oriented non-governmental organisation to help in implementing numerous initiatives aimed at improving the status of all especially the vulnerable in the society.
