Construction of a new Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound estimated at two hundred and fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GHs250, 000.00) is nearing completion at Dodi Asantekrom in the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern Region.

The facility funded by the Japanese Government is in line with efforts by the assembly to bring health delivery to the doorstep of residents in the area and ensure quality health delivery. It is targeted more especially at helping to improve maternal and child health delivery to boost Ghana’s quest for attaining MDG 4 and 5.

Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com. District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko said this is the first major project he has started since assuming the position as the District Chief Executive. The reason, he stated was because he was very much concerned about the health of the people and even though he wanted to complete all on-going projects started by his predecessor, which he is seriously working on, he could not but started this health project.

M. Tomas Ampen Nyarko noted that the project is currently at the lintel level ready for roofing which will immediately be followed by other finishing works to get it ready for use.

One important feature of the facility is that it has attached to it, bungalow for resident health personnel to help offer 24hour service to patients. Other features include ward, consulting rooms, offices and sanitary facilities.
