Mr. Derrick Obeng Mensah in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com observed that most politicians today see politics as fashion and wealth making platform where they can enrich themselves in no time as they declare their political intentions at the expenses of the ordinary tax payer who struggle to even provide two square meals a day.

The Chief Executive Officer questioned why most politicians especially Members of Parliament abandon their constituency immediately after elections. He noted most of them don't even visit the constituency to even listen to the plight of the people who voted for them, citing his home constituency as an example.

He said he cannot even remember the last time their MP visited the constituency to either educate them on happening in government or even initiate a single project to better the lives of the people of Brekum West.

"I can tell you on authority that Brekum West has not seen any developmental projects for about two decades now, because of unnecessary arguments between the Municipal Chief Executive and that of the MP over who is doing this and who has done that and it is causing this Constituency in somany ways", he noted.

The old boy of Brekum Methodist School emphasised that it is a privilege given to Members of Parliament to represent their people but not to represent themselves and must work towards the development of the life's of the ordinary people to raise their standard of living.

He urged the youth to be self-reliant to get themselves busy by taking advantage of government policies like planting for food and jobs, planting for export and rural development as well as the newly initiated policy ‘rearing for food and jobs’ to avert the situation where politicians only use them for vigilantism with an outrageous promises which can never be fulfilled till thy kingdom come.

He send a word of caution to such stomach politicians to respect the right of the ordinary people in order not to attract the wrath of the people in future.
