A six unit classroom block sponsored by the Ghana Education Trust Fund for Bantama M/A Primary/Junior High School in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem municipality a year ago, is standing idle because it has not been inaugurated.

The head teacher, Mr. Emmanuel Awudi, who disclosed this said the school with a population of more than 800 pupils is compelled to run the shift system due to lack of infrastructure.

He said about a month ago, the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. Jophus Samuel Annan, donated 120 dual desks to furnish the facility.

When we decided to use the classroom block the Municipal Assembly restrained us with the reason that the building had not been officially handed over to the school."

Mr. Awudi has therefore appealed to the Municipal Education Directorate to expedite action on the inauguration of the building.

Dr. Annan said he was moved by the plight of the school to donate the furniture but explained that as a Deputy Minister of Education, he must help fulfill government’s policy to abolish the shift system.

He asked the people not to play politics with the education of the children to undermine their future progress.
