As part of efforts to improve the standard of education in the Evalue-Gwira Constituency, the Member of Parliament for the area, Catherine Abelema Afeku, is using her share of MPs’ GETfund to provide educational facilities for the people.

As part of efforts to improve the standard of education in the Evalue-Gwira Constituency, the Member of Parliament for the area, Catherine Abelema Afeku, is using her share of MPs’ GETfund to provide educational facilities for the people.

The facilities include the construction of a brand new class room and early childhood development centre at Awukyire, reconstruction of a dilapidated day care centre at Ayisakro and completion of a teachers’ bungalow at Ayisakro.

Mrs. Afeku has also provided furniture for the Anglican Primary School in Axim, all these at the cost of GHC 3O,OOO.OO.

Speaking in an interview with the DAILY GUIDE, Mrs. Afeku said all these major decisions were taken in consultation with the Nzema East Municipal Director of Education, Mariam Quansah, community elders and opinion leaders and the youth of the beneficiary communities.

Inspecting the various projects about two weeks ago, the inhabitants of the communities expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the work so far and said they were confident the facilities would be commissioned for Christmas celebrations in December.

They were grateful to Mrs. Afeku for judiciously using her share of the GETfund to spread the projects in dif­ferent communities.

The MP used the occasion to show her appreciation to the constituents for their unflinching support and promised" to continue to champion their cause for the development of the constituency.

A former spokesperson for infrastructure under the erstwhile New Pa­triotic Party (NPP) Administration, Mrs. Afeku further pledged to work harmoniously with the constituents to project the image of Evalue-Gwira Constituency.
