The chiefs and people of Nungua have initiated four development programmes to give the municipality a face-lift.

Nii Odai Ayiku 1V, Chief of Nungua, told newsmen at Nungua that the projects included building a hospital, a community bank, a judicial court and a land administration.

Nii Ayiku said studies were almost completed for the construction of a 100-bed hospital at Nungua and would be completed in the next five years.

On the community bank, the Nungua Mantse said plans were far advanced for it to take off and that it would be ready in the coming year.

Nii Ayiku said the project would enhance the economic growth of the municipality, and create jobs for the idling youth within the municipality.

"One area of interest is the educational benefits and packages in the form of scholarships to brilliant but needy citizens of the area from the community bank."

Turning to the court, the Nungua Mantse said government had seen it expedient to establish the court in the municipality "to avoid the situation whereby we have to go far beyond Nungua to file or hear cases."

On the last major project which is the Nungua Land Administration Project (NLAP),  Nii Ayiku said for some time now, the Nungua Stool had been saddled with land issues, which in some cases, had resulted in the mismanagement of record keeping of Nungua lands.

With the establishment of NLAP, all land issues within the municipality would be closely monitored and administered.

"With the NLAP in place, harassment and intimidation by fake landowners will be things of the past," he said.
