The launch is part of series of activities leading to the celebration of the "International Youth Day".

All speakers focused on the current trend of drug abuse specifically the use of tramadol which has taken centre stage in most discussions these days on all media outlets because of the increasing number of youth that have joined this unhealthy practice.

The CEO of the NYA, Mr Emmanuel Asigri said the saddest thing is; Tramadol is targeted at the young youth who wants to work hard, they are usually labourers and those who do brawny jobs as recommended by some as a pain relief.

According to him, the abuse of tramadol among the youth is wrecking our youth in Africa as such NYA has identified one center at Wassa Amenfi in the Western Region and they plan to put it into good shape and use it as a rehabilitation center as they look for more places to be used for such.

He therefore used the occasion to invite all parents to join and work out an action plan to deal with Tramadol abuse amongst youth of this country.

The pain reliever, he noted, is fast bringing our continent so much pain and because the victims are largely youth of our society, most of these abusers are entering their graves faster. Therefore Tramadol importers and its unscrupulous agents and peddlers must be determined to curb it.

Mr Asigri called upon all stakeholders, media, churches and mosques, families, state institutions like FDA and NACOB and all to act now to save the youth. "I Hope together with the awareness being put out, we will win the fight."

On the part of the MCE of Sunyani, Mrs Evelyn Kumi Richardson, she said all leaders of government agencies and districts assembly heads at Sunyani support initiative to provide practical solutions to drug menace in Ghana.

The Omahene of Drobo Traditional Council, Okokokyeredom Sakyiako II who was the chairman for the occasion advised the youth to make the best of their lives, adding "if you don't carry your load on your hair while it's black, you will surely carry it when it turns grey" “Okokokyeredom”. He also urged them to abstain from drugs.

Present were the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Isaac Asiamah, the Regional Minister designate, Mr Bobie, MMDCEs, CEOs, Director of Ghana Health Service, Dr Nsiah Asare, Opinion leaders and chiefs.
