According to the Member of Parliament, the commissioning of the cattle ranches and its subsequent operations will lead to an outbreak of diseases in the area due to the movement of flies hence it is necessary for government to add an ultramodern hospital to the existing one to manage situations relating to health in the district.

Betty Krosbi Mensah made these passionate appeal whiles addressing the management and staff of the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital as she donated five air conditioners to the hospital last Saturday.

"I wish to appeal to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo to as matter of urgency establish an additional hospital to the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital to help cater for the health issues confronting the area", she stated.

The MP stressed that "the commissioning of the cattle ranches in the area and its subsequent operationalization will lead to an outbreak due to the movement of flies hence the need for an additional hospital to manage situations when the needs arise".

The donation the MP revealed was upon a request put before her by the management of the hospital during her official visit to the hospital last October to formerly welcome the newly posted General Manager Ezikiel Adamu Daribi.

According to the management of hospital "there is only one Medical Doctor at the facility serving the over 250,000 residents of Afram Plains which is one third of Eastern Region in terms of land size because most doctors posted refused to stay".

They then emphasised that the hospital is making efforts to acquire an accreditation from the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (GMDC) to train house officers at the facility in order to solve the problem of shortage of doctors.

Hon. Betty then confess how touched she was when the request was made saying "I was surprised to hear, there is only one medical practitioner in a hospital which is serving over 250,000 people in the whole of Afram Plains that is why I quickly mobilise myself to ensure that the housemanship takes off as soon as possible to make doctors available in the facility to save lives".

The MP again promised to feed patients on admission at the children's ward of the hospital.

"I have received a report from a five member committee whom I tasked to access how we can cook daily meal for the children on admission daily just two days ago. The report recommend that we should first put up a kitchen space to enable the smooth running of the program. I am going to study the report and in no time the project will commence in this hospital, I am not the king of promises so I will make sure the children are fed on daily basis from my own coffers".

Betty Krosby Mensah ceased the opportunity to advice the management and staff of the hospital to desist from using their premises for partisan politics adding such practice could drive potential investors away depriving the hospital of the needed support.

The newly posted General Manager, Mr. Ezikiel Amadu Daribi who was overwhelmed by the quick response by the MP to help solve the problem couldn't hide his joy.

He said the 5 new air conditioners will be fixed at the hospital's Conference centre and Library to meet the Standard requirement for the certification to undertake the Housemanship program.

He therefore called on staff of the hospital to put the facility into good use while they await for a team from the GMDC to inspect it.
