According to her, the market traders affected by the fire outbreak would be compensated adequately to enable them return to their normal businesses.

She gave the assurance when she paid a working visit to the affected market to ascertain the level of damage caused.

The Municipal Chief Executive however did not rule out arson and said she suspects foul play from some traders who were unhappy with the assembly’s decision to prevent them from selling on pavements.

The recent fire is the fourth consecutive outbreak and the second in just two months period.

“This is the fourth time the market is in this situation and it is intentional. Information we have gathered is that, someone deliberately started the fire,” she said to the media.

Madam Mensah assured of her commitment to collaborate with the security to properly investigate the matter and act accordingly on the outcome.

“We are collaborating, and I have made a formal complaint to the police. We are on course. We will get to the bottom of this.”

Some of the affected women who complained of losing several Ghana cedis appealed to the government to come to their aid to enable them cater for their families.
