He said education will empower people with skills and relevant knowledge that will translate into nation building.

He said, this is what the government is doing with the introduction of the free senior high school policy; to help qualified students to attain second cycle education.

Speaking on the Educational sector in the Fanteakwa District in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the DCE noted that a number of efforts are being instituted to address challenges in the sector.

Mr. Oware – Tweneboah stated that some 71 students in second cycle and tertiary institutions have been offered partial scholarships by the district assembly to enable them complete their education, while a list of additional 40 people are still waiting for similar support from the assembly for their various educational pursuit.

On staffing, Mr. Oware – Tweneboah disclosed that about 35 trained teachers would soon be officially recruited by the Ghana Education Service, GES to augment existing staff strength of the service in the district.

Since keeping a close relationship with stakeholders is very relevant to identifying and addressing challenges of the sector, the DCE said one of his strategies has been to interact with staff of the District Directorate of Education including all Circuit Supervisors and Head teachers of the Basic Schools in the District.

This, he said, has been helpful in given him insight into the sector and to institute appropriate responses to tackling the issues.

In line with hygienic conditions in the schools, the DCE said there has been provision of dustbins to senior high schools and a couple also kept at vantage points in the districts.

The assembly has also supported Begoro Presec which was in a deplorable state and needed assistance with 50 cements bags.
