The Municipal Chief Hon. Dr. Prince Kwakye Afriyie in a speech mentioned that the program was dear to the heart of government since data collected could help government to make informed decisions that would enhance agriculture production.

Adding that investors would also use the results of the Census to support government’s effort in improving the agricultural industry.

He mentioned that Wenchi was an area that almost all crops grown both the savanna and forest regions could be planted here but noted that it was also difficult to know where all these farms could be found as well as acreages that were planted in specific areas.

He tasked the Management Team to ensure that Field Officers assigned to collect data do a diligent work so that by the end of the 90 days period set aside for the exercise the government and the assembly could have a stepping stone to support agricultural production.

The Chairman of the Municipal Management Team Mr Philip Baazeng (Coordinating Director) thanked the MCE for the inauguration and further noted that the Team would work hand in hand with all stakeholders in the exercise to ensure success.

He disclosed that the last time Agric Census carried out in Ghana was in 1983 and surprisingly no counting has been done afterwards and could deduce that this could make the work of government's and duty bearers difficult.

He said the committee would not only serve as a referral point for complaints but would also undertake supervision on happenings on the field.

On his part the Municipal Director of Information Services Department Mr. E D K Tottimeh Jnr briefed the Team that publicity on the program had hit 95% coverage of the total Enumeration Area. (E A).
