The project which is being funded from the assembly’s internally generated fund (IGF) when completed could accommodate hundreds of traders who hitherto were trading under scorching sun, pavement and on the road side every day, particularly Mondays and Fridays which is the official market day for the people.

Mondays and Fridays are market days at Barekese and usually traders commute from Kumasi, Asuofua, Adankwame, Fufuo, Offinso and other nearby towns to display wears and foodstuffs on the floor and improvised structures.

According to the District Chief Executive, Rebecca Yeboah, the building of pavilion for market women was part of the Assembly's commitment to reducing the plight of market women and give the district capital a facelift.

She added, funds to complete the project was available and the District Works Engineer, Mr Daniel Mensah who is supervising the work had assured her it would soon be completed.

The newly created district had undertaken series of infrastructural development among them include dredging of the Anomakosa River and its tributaries at Asuofua, dislodging and rehabilitation of toilet facility at Osei Tutu Senior High School, began construction of six unit classroom at Barekese, reshaping of feeder roads linking to the district capital.
