Kwahu East District forms part of the twenty six (26) Municipalities and Districts in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The Administrative capital of the District is Abetifi. The District shares boundaries with Kwahu South to the south to the north with the Afram River and some part of Asante Akim North, to the east with Afram Plains South and to the west with Asante Akim South. The district was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I) 1839.The population of the district according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 77,125 with 37,620 males and 39,505 females.
