Urban Council Office in Mim inaugurated

The Office of Administrator of Stools Lands (OASL) in the Ahafo Region has inaugurated an Urban Council office in Mim in the Asunafo South Municipality to help in the efficient implementation of customary lands in the region.

The establishment of the office according to the OASL is also expected to improve Stool lands revenue mobilization and disbursement to traditional councils, district Assemblies and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Maame Ama Edumadzi Aquah called on stakeholders to bring their experiences and ideas to enhance and improve on land management to residents in the region.

She urged both the Assemblies and the chiefs to effectively use their resources and revenue for projects that will benefit their communities.

Mrs. Edumadzi Acquah reiterated the government's commitment to ensure that land administration systems such as land registration and rental payments were strengthened and streamlined to make it attractive to investors and therefore called for productive collaboration between the chiefs and other stakeholders.

“I therefore want to appeal to all users of traditional stool lands to pay their dues regularly in order to facilitate rapid development in our communities in accordance with our mandate of Article 267(2) of the 1992 Constitution and OASL, Act of 1994, Act 418 to collect rents, dues.

Tributes and royalties which are disbursed as prescribed by a formula for the benefit of traditional councils and Metropolitan, Municipals and Districts Assemblies", she emphasized.

She lamented over challenges of litigations between the stakeholders that have the potential of derailing the success achieved by her organization.

The Asunafo North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Yaw Osei-Boahene in a speech read by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Mohammed Alhassan Yakubu, on his part, tasked the OASL to manage and reduce the negative impact of land litigations in the region to propel development.

The Chairman and Chief of Mim, Omanhene Okfrobuo Nana Dr. Yaw Agyei II through his representative, Akyeamehene Nana Kwame OheneIi, commended the OASL for establishing the office for decentralizing their operations to bring relief to residents.

He therefore appealed to all land owners to collaborate to reduce the menace of land disputes to safeguard investments of residents and development partners.

The project is commissioned in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly, the Mim Traditional Council and the Office of the Administrator of Stools Lands.
