Access to electricity is an important human right- President
The President of the World Bank, Ajay Banga has stated that electricity is a fundamental human right essential for accessing healthcare, education, and opportunities for innovation and productivity.

During the World Bank Group Meetings on April 17, 2024, Mr. Banga underscored the importance of electricity in addressing poverty, promoting growth, and fostering development. He highlighted electricity as a cornerstone for job creation and enhancing capabilities in Africa.

Furthermore, he stressed the urgent need to connect communities in the Sissala East district, such as Wuru, Katinia, Tanvialli, Nitalu, Kwapun, Konsola, Nahadakui, Komo, Gbenebisi, Kalaxsi, Santijan, Dondourijan, and Kupunjorha, to the national grid as they have been without access to electricity since 1992.
