The Presiding Member, Hon. Jones Afriyie-Anto was born on 13th August, 1981 at Fawohoyeden in the Asunafo North Municipality.
He holds MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice (Anaesthesia) from UCC, BSc from the Catholic University, Fiapre, Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Chartered Management (UK), Advanced Diploma in Anaesthesia from the Nurse Anaesthetists Training School in Kumasi and a Diploma in Nursing from the Nursing Training College in Kumasi.
Hon. Jones Afriyie-Anto currently works as an anaesthetist at the tepa district hospital. Prior to this he had also worked as same at the Bekwai Municipal Hospital and Abenkyiman Hospital in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
He has served in several positions in his career spanning almost ten years. They include: Management Chairman, Nightingale Educational Complex, KATH, Kumasi, Member representing Ashanti, Eastern and Brong-Ahafo Regions on the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association Fund Board of Trustees, Regional 1st Vice Chairman, Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Ashanti Region, Regional Public Relations Officer, Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Ashanti Region, District Public Relations Officer, Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Amansie-East and National President, Ghana Nurse and Midwife Trainees’ Association,
He has attended several conferences, workshops, trainings and meetings in the areas of nursing, anaesthesia, NALAG, Local Government and general civil matters.
He is an accredited member of the Health Workers Association (HEWAN), Kumasi, Financial Supporter of Asunafo North Youth Association, Member of Fawohoyeden Electoral Area Team, and other Political and Non-Political Groupings.
He is also a Fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) and Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anaesthetists (GACRA).
Since assuming office as the Presiding Member of the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Jones Afriyie-Anto had championed the legislative arm of the Assembly to achieve remarkable breakthroughs in the areas of timely meetings and expedited passage of policies, good interface with the Executive Arm of the Assembly and the constituency executives of the ruling party, lobbying skills and support for timely delivery of services and active participatory advocacy for the creation of the Ahafo Region.
His ambition is to lead the Assembly to achieve its mission of improving the quality of life of the people through promotion and active citizen’s participation in the decision-making and provision of broad base socio-economic infrastructure and the creation of employment opportunities in line.
